When Egged, Israel’s largest public transportation company, decided to expand its service to ride-sharing, it needed the digital and technical foundation - communicating between individual riders, shuttle drivers, and operators - to operate it. That meant developing and deploying everything from cloud and server-side operations, two native apps, ongoing QA, integrating with existing legacy software, and dedicated product and technical managers.
After carefully mapping all the different requirements that will go into a successful launch, our dev team suggested a list of potential solutions for each requirement. Including payment options (i.e. discounted fares for seniors, switching to EMV standard, etc.), 3rd party solutions to enable easy deployment of maps, routing and timing features that will integrate with Egged’s existing platforms, and more, leading to a successful launch on the original date.
